In EU, information security is often called Network Information Security (NIS), but it has usually broader meaning and means "protection of ICT and everything relevant to it".

Management of information security in SR

Information security in the Slovak Republic is basically divided into two areas - classified information protection and unclassified information protection. Classified information protection is under supervision of National Security Office, unclassified information protection is under supervision of Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic.

There exists also specific areas (like Digital Rights or Personal Data Protection), that are supervised by other state bodies (shown examples belongs to Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and Personal Data Protection Office in this order), which should interfere but not overcompete with the competences within the basic division.

An advisory and coordination board has been established by Ministry of finance of the Slovak republic to facilitate mutual communication - Committee for Information Security.

National Strategy for Information Security of the Slovak Republic

Main document covering the information security in SR is National Strategy for Information Security, that had been approved  by Slovak Government on August 27, 2008.
